PERFECTION: The PERFECT GAME!

 Perfectly Serene?

 Perfectly Timed Splash? Totally Subjective!

Again- Perfectly Timed? Depends on what I was going for doesn't it? If I wanted it BEFORE it hit the water-It's not even close!

Again? Perfect Shot (ar ar) with Basketball? Who's to say?

Perfect Hole in Rusty Thingy? Measure it! It's probably WAY off under the Microscope of Scrutiny!

Perfect Shot through Perfect Hole? (This is part of the Life Seen Through a Rusty Hole series sneak preview!)
Again--what is the Definition of Perfection here?

PERFECTION IS ONE OF THOSE WORDS THAT MAY CARRY MANY DIFFERENT MEANINGS ACCORDING TO THE SCENARIO. FOR BASEBALL FANS A PITCHER PITCHED

 A PERFECT GAME,

AGAINST TAMPA BAY. HE IS IN THE HISTORY BOOKS. FOREVER. FOR PERFECTION. ACCORDING TO ALL THE PARAMETERS  ON A GIVEN DAY IN HIS CRAFT!

THAT IS NO RUNS, NO HITS, AND, MORE IMPRESSIVELY NO WALKS!!!  TO SAY THIS IS RARE IS OVERSTATING THE OBVIOUS:

Halladay throws perfect game, beats Marlins 1-0

MIAMI (AP)—
Stoic as always, Roy Halladay’s(notes) expression never changed.
Until the end, that is.  The Philadelphia Phillies’ ace threw the 20th perfect game in major league history, beating the Florida Marlins
1-0 on Saturday night.
IN BASEBALL HISTORY!  THE 20!!!!  EVER!!!!!!!

HOW MANY OF US SAY WE ARE "PERFECTIONIST?" HOW FRUSTRATING IS THAT? EVEN WHEN WE PUT TOGETHER WHAT WE THINK IS PERFECT, WE GO BACK AND FIND ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT, OR 100 TINY MISTAKES. NOW DON'T GET ME WRONG--IT'S GREAT TO SEEK IMPROVEMENT & PERFECTION!

BUT C'MON--CAN'T WE EVEN ENJOY A MOMENT?
FOR SOMETHING OTHERS SAY, "WELL DONE!, OR "THAT WAS AWESOME!????".

I wonder if this Pitcher went back and criticized himself, looking to do even better, or if he just RELISHED the moment and said "Yes- I did it!" We are truly are own worst critics sometimes, and even when people compliment us on a good job. We don't even no how to gracefully:

 RECEIVE A COMPLIMENT!

Do you ever feel like you did something perfectly-  or at least to the absolute best of your ability, only to have someone pick it apart?

How does it feel when you do that, and someone criticizes it, or you?

How does a Child feel, when they bring you scribbles on a paper, and we know it's not "PERFECT"--but they DON'T! Nobody has told them differently yet! To THEM IT'S PERFECT!
And yet we so off handily dismiss them with a, "That's nice Honey", or "That's pretty", not even looking?

How can we take what is said about Being made perfect in Christ, and use it practically--or is it Practically of no use?

There is one area in which I STRIVE for perfection- and that is MEDICINE! I DO NOT WANT TO MESS UP HERE! THE CONSEQUENCES AND STAKES ARE HIGH!!!!!

ARE THEIR CERTAIN AREAS YOU SEEK PERFECTION IN AND NOT OTHERS?  See- the caps lock affliction again- but I'm not changing it! So now you don't know if I'm yelling..which I hardly ever do, or using caps for emphasis- which I do a LOT! But- you not knowing me--don't know that!

What is PERFECTION to you?
How do you define it?
Do you seek it?
Are you even conscious of it, and if so in what areas??
Why some and not all?
Is it even attainable?
If not--WHY BOTHER at all?

Just a little poser to think about today and heading into next week!

MAYBE IT WILL BE A PERFECT WEEK!!

  1. Well, it's certainly starting off to be a perfect week for you...You're already playing with your balls and rusty hole !

  2. It's funny you coming up with this topic - I was thinking about it the other day. I have suffered all my life from others' too high expectations of my abilities. Because I was born smart and relatively proficient, people expect much more from me than they would pretty much anyone else. I don't recall my mother EVER praising me. Even my sister who has been my best support over the years, has ridiculous standards - my 3rd or 4th painting EVER (a couple years ago) she said "Well, it's not Michelangelo or anything." I was stunned. I thought I had done very well considering - perhaps a woman of my age should be better IF SHE HAD BEEN DEVELOPING THAT SKILL FOR ALL THOSE YEARS but I hadn't been. I know absolutely that I'm no Michelangelo but I'll bet HIS 3rd or 4th paintings were not nearly as good as mine. Not to toot my horn and he was likely only 12 but you get my drift I hope. I am slowly learning to accept my shortcomings even if no one else does. If they think they can do better then I tell them to go ahead.

  3. Heff- The PERFECT Weekend! LOL

Hey--it looks like Auburn and SC will be hosting a Baseball regional!

Jeannie-- You are dead on Target--people always told me I could do so much better--then I did, and it STILL wasn't good enough...I played an almost perfect Football Game once by my standards and my Dad found out the ONE or TWO mistakes I had made! Not one I'm proud of you or anything- but "Why did you do so & so! That hurts even to this day!

It got so that if people had low expectations of me--I could just cruise along- so I did the bare minimum until I started doing it FOR MYSELF--and My own SELF ESTEEM!!!!!

    We definitely are kindred Spirits!

And you know what else-- Michelangelo could HAVE NEVER drawn JOHNNY DEPP--and YOU DID! So there!

  4. Although I've never watched a perfect game... it would be very boring with little happening till the end when the tension at whether or not it holds will overshadow the lack of action on the field

  7. buffalo--if I'd gotten to the 12th I don't think I'd have thrown it and just lied! LOL!

Close enuf' for Govt. work--wait--THAT'S 8 FRAMES-- Sorry!

    Whoops--the Govt. doesn't work--that's a new Oxymoron a Government Worker! Snicker--no offense anyone!

    John

I think the highest I ever bowled was 224 or 264. I did get a trophy one time for a 3 game average of 184 in a Tourney-- I think I was 14 or 15. Football took over after that.

  9. It seems to me that perfection is subjective...and for the most part, unattainable....for the exact reasons you've mentioned: We're always second-guessing ourselves.

No matter what, there's the big BUT...

    Love the photos...'specially the rusty-thingie....
