FOR SOMETHING OTHERS SAY, "WELL DONE!, OR "THAT WAS AWESOME!????".

I wonder if this Pitcher went back and criticized himself, looking to do even better, or if he just RELISHED the moment and said "Yes- I did it!" We are truly are own worst critics sometimes, and even when people compliment us on a good job. We don't even no how to gracefully:

 RECEIVE A COMPLIMENT!

Do you ever feel like you did something perfectly-  or at least to the absolute best of your ability, only to have someone pick it apart?

How does it feel when you do that, and someone criticizes it, or you?

How does a Child feel, when they bring you scribbles on a paper, and we know it's not "PERFECT"--but they DON'T! Nobody has told them differently yet! To THEM IT'S PERFECT!
And yet we so off handily dismiss them with a, "That's nice Honey", or "That's pretty", not even looking?

How can we take what is said about Being made perfect in Christ, and use it practically--or is it Practically of no use?

There is one area in which I STRIVE for perfection- and that is MEDICINE! I DO NOT WANT TO MESS UP HERE! THE CONSEQUENCES AND STAKES ARE HIGH!!!!!

ARE THEIR CERTAIN AREAS YOU SEEK PERFECTION IN AND NOT OTHERS?  See- the caps lock affliction again- but I'm not changing it! So now you don't know if I'm yelling..which I hardly ever do, or using caps for emphasis- which I do a LOT! But- you not knowing me--don't know that!

What is PERFECTION to you? 

How do you define it? 

Do you seek it?

Are you even conscious of it, and if so in what areas?? 

Why some and not all?

Is it even attainable?

If not--WHY BOTHER at all?

Just a little poser to think about today and heading into next week!

THEY'VE DONE IT AGAIN!

The Insensitive Meteorologists I mean. Ours reported that the High temps we were having were due to an area of:

DISTURBED WEATHER

off our Coast. What disturbed it? Did it hear about the Oil Splill?

He also mentioned something I think is an Oxymoron- a BACK DOOR FRONT!!!  WT????

POPCORN- Thunderstorms in SC. These literally POP up in one spot and may dump 1-3 inches of rain in a 5 mile area and not a drop anywhere else. These are about 5-7,000 feet-mere Babies. The Bigguns get to 30-40,000 feet, produce Hail, and 50 mph winds. These did not even form at all! They just disappeared!

SO!!

Should I watch the back door- or the front? Now I don't mind a Little DENSE FOG- that he reported on earlier, but a Disturbed- Back Door Front- well that has me a little concerned. It also seems that all of these "Weather-makers" are LOW's. OK--I can buy that--you get a little distressed you get a little low. Then it becomes a DEEPENING or DEVELOPING LOW! OMG- RUN!

Now for the Biggie!

It's HURRICANE SEASON_ OUUUUUHHHHH! SPOOKY!

As if we can't see them coming for hundreds of miles, and DAYS away!! Why don't we seed them with Prozac when they are "Tropical Depressions"?????? Maybe we could raise their self esteem and they wouldn't tear across Jamaica sucking up all that RUM, and then hitting the Hot OILY Gulf and sobering up and getting the shakes!

Then they will hear all about the Oil, Get REALLY PISSED-More DEPRESSED, DEEPER in a funk and haul butt ashore and wreak havock.

These aren't like illegals that are sneaking across the border. They form out in the open, and we can send AIRPLANES into them. Sneaky aren't they!? I say send in the Welbutrin, or the Chantix--give them their Nicotine fix and see if they won't chill, and not go Postal on the US!

8-14 Hurricanes--Hmmmmmm... about 50/50?????

3 to 7   ????? COULD be MAJOR HURRICANES!  50/50 again?

“If this outlook holds true, this season could be one of the more active on record,” said Jane Lubchenco, Ph.D., under secretary of commerce for oceans and atmosphere and NOAA administrator. “The greater likelihood of storms brings an increased risk of a landfall. In short, we urge everyone to be prepared.”

The outlook ranges exceed the seasonal average of 11 named storms, six hurricanes and two major hurricanes. Expected factors supporting this outlook are:

• Upper atmospheric winds conducive for storms. Wind shear, which can tear apart storms, will be weaker since El Niño in the eastern Pacific has dissipated. Strong wind shear helped suppress storm development during the 2009 hurricane season.
• Warm Atlantic Ocean water. Sea surface temperatures are expected to remain above average where storms often develop and move across the Atlantic. Record warm temperatures – up to four degrees Fahrenheit above average – are now present in this region.
• High activity era continues. Since 1995, the tropical multi-decadal signal has brought favorable ocean and atmospheric conditions in sync, leading to more active hurricane seasons. Eight of the last 15 seasons rank in the top ten for the most named storms with 2005 in first place with 28 named storms.

My post today was much longer originally- (Blogger lost it- after 1 hour of writing/re-writing!--even though it said it was saving it!!!) Liar!-

 I'm not sure what happened, I have no idea why it happened, but as of Last Night, it's like everything in Life just came together. There is a Calmness and a Peace that I have that passes all Understanding!

I'm not trying to rub this in, or be somebody or something I'm not. I just feel so grateful and appreciative of everything right now!

Again, I don't understand why, at this particular juncture of my life, nor why I suddenly realized this last night. My circumstances have not changed, I didn't win the lottery, my wife didn't leave me--(just kidding!) but should life for me end today--AND I PRAY IT DOESN'T,

I AM ONE HAPPY AND CONTENT MAN!

I can only pray, that the Feeling, and Knowing, I have inside me...is somehow conveyed to each and every person who reads these words!

Look for the Positives! They are out there!

MEDICAL MONDAY

For Daffy!

MEDMISSION MONDAY!

Today we took the Med Mission van to Batesburg-Leesville about 25 minutes up the road. This was our very first set-up that we ever did two weeks ago, when we saw 8 patients. Today we saw 14 in the 2 hours. All different patients than 2 weeks ago, so word is getting out. All but one was a legitimate candidate. Unfortunately the other was a drug seeker, but all in all a nice person. We do not prescribe narcotics, nor do we keep any prescription meds, and have signs saying so, strictly for safety reasons!

People with Jonses' can do some crazy stuff.... but we do not feel threatened. That still doesn't mean you shouldn't be smart and stay alert. I have mixed feelings for people with Prescription Addictions, as most if not all were created by the same system. I'm really not capable of judging them, but I also do not desire to be an enabler, contributing to the problem. Thankfully that is not our focus at all, in this Free Clinic.

We did call in some pain meds for a patient with terrible staph infection of the knee...and I didn't take my camera as this was the awesome Boil I promised you all!

If it drained down into his/her footwear- would it be PUS in Boots?

Fortunately, (or unfortunately), depending on your point of view, we have become as addicted to Drive through INSTANT Cures, as we have meals! We want to be well, and we want it now!!!! How dare I have to suffer through a Headache or God forbid a 24 hour Stomach Bug with cramps!!! People actually left the Urgent Scare saying....well I don't FEEL better yet! People are not into hurting or suffering one bit! Now- of course no one wants to be sick or hurt--by my Gosh--IT COMES WITH LIFE!!! DEAL WITH IT!

OMG...let's see--you had it for 18 hours, and you've been here an hour and your not well!

Damn!

What are we doing wrong? LOL! I'm serious ya'll...it has gotten that bad. We had people coming in with Pizzas, and Boxes from Fast Food chains, sign in, ask how long the wait was and, I need a Blanket in the same breath!

They were truly Tailgating.....

Plus, we are being graded--yes GRADED, by a Press-Gainey score, that the patient sends back to tell you how you did! Imagine not getting your Narcotics! Think that may reflect in the scores returned?? But not be an indicator of whether good medicine was practiced or not?

Anywho, it's all part and parcel of the phenomenal changes I've witnessed in Medicine since 1973! It's really unparalleled. Not to mention the fact that a Dr. may be sued by anyone, at anytime, for any reason: then add in these scores, and you now have a Hospitality driven industry- in stead of, Hospital..No Fatality, Driven Industry!!

The patients today were sooo grateful, and thanked us profusely for providing the service, and for being there! It made all the past, "Problem Patients" melt away. It was a Pleasure, to SERVE these wonderful people. And the stories......oh boy... talk about ripping your Heart out.

~Things are tough all over folks. We are tougher!~

I think we all desire recognition deep down, whether we admit it to ourselves, or not! I truly believe it was Three-well,I know, over Two years before my first and only award, until my recent round of them. And that's because I reached out to a new group of Supertastic People! (I think I made a word!) I'll give myself an award later if no one claims it!

-1.Share 1 thing that no one knows about you.   I was conceived out of wedlock! How's that for Honesty--TMI? Born after marriage--way to go Dad!

-2.What is your biggest regret in life? (hello, everyone has regrets). I answered this a while back but it has to be- Not finishing college when I had a Full Scholarship to do so- and to add- not going to Med School when I had the chance. Regretted both ever since, but they are now part of me and my past!

-3.Have you ever been jealous of someone elses blog page and why? Honestly- No. I have seen a lot of great formats, and some neat phrasing I wish I had coined- but jealous--Nah!

-4.What would you do for a $1,000 dollars? A LOT!!  But it would not involve lying, or intentionally hurting anyone else- or breaking one of my Moral laws.  Not that I'm so perfect....but I do draw a FIRM line in certain areas!

Good question though--because seriously--money isn't that great a motivator for me....but it really did make me pause, think...tick off some things in my mind..................Good Question!!!

-5.What secretly makes you happy? (money? Kids? Porn? Sunshine?)    This may sound weird- but seeing other people really Happy- like winning something, or Families being reunited (like Soldiers) that REALLY gets to me!

-6.If you could go back in time, would you still pick the person you are with right now? And why.   Wow!...................... First impression, No. Quickly, After reflection- Definitely Yes! Simply because the choices I made in the past, made me who I am now! And I'm very happy with ME, as well as Mrs. Me!  Some days---ummmm- not so much!  LOL!!!!

I would have had to list that under regrets right?

-7.What do you like or dislike about my blog page. Initially the only thing that comes to mind, and we are being honest--I guess, is some of the colorful language. But that is you, and it's definitely NOT even close to being enough to put me off your AWESOME HONEST page! And yes, I use those words at times myself!

-8.If you could take a trip anywhere, who would you take with you? Dang Girl---- Trouble time!  I would trip over my living room throw rug and take myself!  No?  Not going to buy it!  Damn! OK.......... 

OK- this is SEMI- serious and I have though about this lately---what if I could take ALL my Blogger Friends and theirs--to Vegas- or Some Exotic--yeah  Cloudia's house @ Comfort Spiral  !!!! check out her pics, and we could spend a week together- and have an Honest to Goodness Real Life awards ceremony!!!!  I don't know- but I think that would be cool. Just like the Oscar's, Woody's....wait- that's not an award, that's a state of being!

But Ya get the idea...wouldn't that be neat!  All paid for and everything!
