SEVERE WEATHER; TORNADO TOUCHDOWN
Yes friends- it's that time: and, WAY TOO EARLY. SC is home to some kick butt thunderstorms, especially in the Hot Fertile Breeding grounds of Summer!
BUT IN FEB?????
Walking to the Mailbox today I saw more evidence of Spring, as well as an early feel for Summer. It was very windy--WINDS were 25 mph gusting to 40, and there was that eerily, heavy, oppressive feel, despite the wind!
After dark thirty...it hit. We had ample warning--about 2 days for this front to arrive, but it lost none of it's punch as it moved over the Mountains, and hit our drier air!

SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS LAST 3 HOURS &
Lighting strikes were up to 6441 per 20-30 minute period. That's a serious light show!!!!

I'm so happy we don't have that kind of weather out here...
ReplyDeleteI also want to tell you that your photos are really looking good!
Second to the last picture? That was God.
ReplyDeletePat-- I almost want a storm cellar! Just a Thunderstorm here can give you 50 mph downdraft- or straight line winds.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the awesome compliment! Get me a house, and then more than my 6 megapix PIECEOCRAP--I mean Samsung! LOL!
But thank you sir--that means a lot coming from you!
J
Middle Child--Amen! Only HE can paint like that!
ReplyDeleteThank so much for that Comment!
Hugs!
J
I came to your blog from another you commented on. Lovely message you convey here. You've lifted my spirits today.
ReplyDeleteWhatever the reason *cough8 man*cough* man*cough* the climate is a changing. Colder colds and hotter hots.
ReplyDeleteIt may be to late but as Pete Townsend wrote
"We won't get fooled again"
You know John you could collect all that trash embed it in concrete and put the newly minted speed bumps down in the road just as the slobs turn off the highway. That may keep the trash out of the 'hood.
Allison--welcome to the family! Thank you for the wonderful comment!
ReplyDeleteJohn
Mark--Great idea--but these knuckle heads on a dirt road just won't get it!!!
I believe we have trashed Mother Earth that she is totally rebelling!!!!
J
Spring would lift my spirits but it's a long way off yet here. Sigh. I will just sit here and envy yours.
ReplyDeleteOK then... you are one fantastically creative fellow! I love how you combine your beautiful photos and narrative. You are really good at that, you know?!
ReplyDeleteWe had, I think, the same or similar system slip through Knoxville. In fact, we had massive flooding near our house, people adrift in cars. YIKES! Jeff and I spent four hours getting water out of our house. WAHHHHH.
Good music lifts my spirits! Plus a cold beer too! :D
ReplyDeleteDang Blogger--losing my responses to you!!
ReplyDeleteJeannie--I will be complaining in July and August about the Heat!
J
PAMO--You are way to Kind! So sorry about the flooding--that is a 9.5 on the stress and mess scale. So sorry you had to go through that!
Praying for a quick dry out!
John
Joey,
Amen & Amen Bro! Headphones on and dialed up to 55...DirectV Classic Rock--and I travel!!!!
Good call Bro. How is AZ?
John
Seems like in recent years ANY time of the year can be that time of the year for storms.
ReplyDeleteI hope the storms of the past week or two aren't a sign of an expecially active "tornado season"!
Kelly-- I think we are in a kick hiney cycle!! I'm starting to want a Shelter!!!
ReplyDeleteBe blessed my friend,
Hugs,
John
