RECORD HIGH, TIME FOR PICS
Yep, it's that time again. We had a record high of 81 degrees yesterday and I went for the first-ALMOST Spring walk. It's now back in the 50's with 20-30 mph winds. Welcome to SC!!!
The weather yesterday can only mean one thing--MORE PICS FROM THE POND & WOODS!
HE'S BAAACK
SO IT'S TIME FOR THESE TO RETURN. ALL TAKEN YESTERDAY...........
LE POND.....

SUNSET IN PINES THAT HELD 50-70 OF THESE....SEE BELOW...
IT'S A ROBIN..AND THEY ARE ON THE WAY TO FLORIDA TO DO HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF DAMAGE TO THESE.....
THE BERRIES MY FRIEND MAKES HIS LIVING OFF OF. WE USED TO BE ABLE TO SHOOT THE ROBINS IN THE 60'S & 70'S. WE GAVE THEM TO PEOPLE WHO MADE ROBIN PIES FOR FOOD!
NOW THEY ARE PROTECTED, (AS A SONGBIRD) AND YOU CAN ONLY "SCARE THEM" WITH VARIOUS MEANS. IT'S SO PC AND REGULATED THAT THE FARMERS HAVE TO PAY LICENSE FEES TO BE ABLE TO SCARE THE BIRDS. PSSSST...IT DOESN'T WORK!!!!!! IF YOU ARE CAUGHT WITH A DEAD ONE--IT'S $1000.00 PER BIRD!!!!
I KNOW- I KNOW--THEY HAVE TO EAT TOO--BUT WHAT DO THEY EAT WHEN STRAWBERRIES AREN'T IN SEASON? I'M JUST SAYIN....
THE EARLY BILL STILL GETS THE WORM RIGHT????
EXPENSIVE HUMBLE PIE HUH?
BIG GOVERNMENT SUCKS..THEY HAVE A HAND IN EVERYTHING TO TAKE OUR MONEY. THERE ARE SO MANY ROBINS..YOU COULD NOT DENT THE POPULATION. THEY ARE HERE TODAY AND WILL ARRIVE IN FL. EN-MASS NEXT WEEK FOR THE FREE FEAST!
MEANWHILE--WE WILL BE PUTTING THESE UP FOR STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE TO LAST ALL SPRING LONG! THANKS BILLY: NOTICE WHERE THEY ARE FROM? THIS WAS OUR HOST IN FLORIDA'S BERRIES'. CITRUS IS LONG GONE---TO BRAZIL!
ORANGE YOU GLAD I DIDN'T STAY AND TAKE OVER DAD'S BUSINESS!
I AM!
PLANT CITY FL. HOME OF THE STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL- THE WORLD'S WINTER STRAWBERRY CAPITAL.

LOVE YOU ALL
JMc
Robin pie. That's an interesting thought. Surely they just breast them. That's what we do to dove and robins are even smaller. Well, I don't know...maybe about the same size.
ReplyDeleteWe have trouble with red-wing black birds and our crops. And.... when we were still in the catfish business we had a permit to shoot pelicans and commorants.
Kelly--some are as big as Doves. Just pop the breast out.
ReplyDeleteWow--never thought about what a Pelican could do to Farmin' fish!!
J
Oh, John, so much of that was just cruel. :-) We have 80 inches of snow here (usual is 39 by this time) and we've not even hit our snowiest month (March).
ReplyDeleteWhy do you hurt me so? :-)
Pearl
Geez. Forgot what I was going to say.
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous of the temps there. I was happy that we got plus 1 C today. Woohoo! Dry roads! No scarf or hat! I would love some fresh berries. I think most of ours come from California. Thing is, even when the local fruit is ripe, you can't buy it at the grocery because they have to sign these huge deals with the distributors to take "foreign" fruit all year long even if it shuts out the locals. So we have to go to the markets instead for our own produce. Even then, it can come from quite a distance.
Love your pics! I'm here in East Tennessee and our weather sounds similar to yours right now. I'm ready for spring and strawberries and Robin pie. Oh, wait a minute, not Robin pie!
ReplyDeleteMy cats might be able to help out with the population problem though....
Good Lord! If I saw a spider that size, I'd create a new pond, if you catch my drift. And then I'd ask you to come up with a caption ;)
ReplyDeleteDon't be down on the robins, my friend. Besides their bad spelling habits (they can't even spell their own name. Replace the "i" with a "y" - bird brains!), we're a sweet breed. And you can't fault us for liking strawberries.
ReplyDeleteLove ya,
xoRobyn
You have no idea how much I want to eat those strawberries. They look delicious! I'm so jealous! Strawberries and cream, strawberry pie, strawberry smoothie....
ReplyDeleteThose pictures of the woods are so gorgeous. All of them are.
We've been having crazy weather here in NYC. On Friday people were in shorts and the next day it was snowing!
I can't wait until Spring!
Pearl-- It will be a different story in the Dog Days of August when it hits 105-110!! But I will take what we have over your 80 inches any day!! My gosh that's a lot of snow!!!
ReplyDeleteMOVE--LOL!!
Hugs,
J
Jeannie-- Billy sells his at reduced prices because California floods the market in Fl, to drive prices down...then elevates them after Fl is through picking their berries. It is a cut-throat industry--not to mention the outside produce that you were talking about!!
J
PAMO--Welcome to the Family!! I guess our weather is very close! Thanks for the kind words. Come on down and have a Smoothie!!
Bring the Cats quick!! lol--we love em. Especially with gravy! I'm kidding...we have two and have had up to 9 at one time!
Again--WELCOME!!!!
John

Climb2--You just gave me some great ideas!! We always stay with the Shortcake--but there is so much more!!
Thanks for the pic compliments--we are slowly greening up. Our State Flower--the Yellow Jasmine has flowered. It flowers before it Leaves. I guess if it leaves first we wouldn't see it at all....OK--my bad!
Great to hear from ya!!
John
John, lol, I stopped myself from going into the red breast thing too. We'll keep it at that.
ReplyDeleteLove ya,
xoRobyn
