TEQUILA & SALT

Tequila and Salt

This should probably be taped to your bathroom mirror
where one could read it every day.
You may not realize it, but it's 100% true.

1. There are at least two people in this world
that you would die for.
2. At least 15 people in this world
love you in some way.
3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you
is because they want to be just like you.
4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone,
even if they don't like you.
5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you
before they go to sleep.
6. You mean the world to someone.
7. You are special and unique.
8. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.
9. When you make the biggest mistake ever,
something good comes from it.
10 When you think the world has turned its back on you
take another look.
11 Always remember the compliments you received.
Forget about the rude remarks.

And always remember....
when life hands you Lemons,
ask for Tequila and Salt and call me over!
Good friends are like stars........
You don't always see them,
But you know they are always there.
'Whenever God Closes One Door He Always Opens Another, Even Though
Sometimes It's Hell in the Hallway'
I would rather have one rose and a kind word from a friend while I'm here
than a whole truck load when I'm gone.

'stop and smell the flowers' &
See how many 'bouquets' you end up with!
Happiness keeps You Sweet,
Trials keep You Strong,
Sorrows keep You Human,
Failures keeps You Humble,
Success keeps You Glowing,
But Only
God keeps You Going

Love to all,

John

  2. If you're a Christian, why would you write about tequila?

I was just clicking from blog to blog, & saw this, then saw the Bible verse on the side.

It's totally incongrunent, & blows your witness.

"If we love the world, the love of God is not in us..."

If the lost see your words, they will automatically assume you're just another religious hypocrite who says they love God but are no different than then in their sin...(drunkenness IS a sin, not a disease...)

    One more verse for ya...

"Let those that name the name of Christ depart from iniquity..."

Sometimes we're the only witness someone will ever see...if they turn away from Christ because 'our light is full of darkness', we will be accountable for that.

You know, right, that we'll be accountable for EVERY idle word, & we need to guard our witness carefully?

The enemy would love nothing more than to offend seekers through you, or cause the lost to turn away because of the worldliness this blog post conveys.

If the title of your post is a way to draw the lost & be a witness, it's really, honestly NOT effective, but quite the opposite.

I don't know you, or if you drink, but by your posting this, you're condoning, even promoting it...
...how do you know an ex-drunkard who has just been set free hasn't found your blog, read this, & decided that it must be ok for Christians to drink?
Are we are brother's keeper? YES! & we're told not to cause each otehr to stumble, right?

Please pray about this, & I pray you'll desire to grow in holiness & purity, & will weigh everything before you say or write it, for the Kingdom's sake!

    Blessings,
    ~A sister in Christ~

  3. A reply to anonymous...

you are the exact reason that I stray away from religion. People that like to point that finger at other people rather than minding their own business. If you must post something of this nature please have the guts to at least leave your name. John is a great guy that has a great caring heart and I take it as a personal insult that you would come here and shake that finger in his face.

All people who believe in God in any shape form or fashion do it in their own way. Who are you to say that your way is the only way. That is the thing a about most Christians that flies all over me. Your opinion or take on the faith is not the only one out there. I could quote bible verses all day long to prove my point. "For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3 Give me a break and get off your high horse. If you don't agree with what he writes then just leave him alone. Any light hearted joke that he makes is made to brighten a bad day besides the fact that this is his space of the internet world. John is doing more good in the worth of faith than harm whether it's up to your standards or not.

So sister in Christ you now may return to your bible thumping.

Sorry John had to get that out.

  4. It's kind of funny I show up today. I happen to be a Christian and I see nothing wrong with this post.

I don't think there is anything wrong with social drinking. Didn't Jesus turn water into wine at his mother's request? I don't think the overall message of this post is "go out and get hammered." That's not what I got from it at all. Lighten up, Anonymous, you give Christianity a bad name.

John, this was sweet and funny and I will pass it on to my friends.

  6. Hi John - I found you through Monkey girl and I liked your post. I am a Christian who believes in Salvation through Jesus Christ. I rarely drink but don't feel the least bit guilty when I do. true 2nd sip goes to my head but I think a social drink is alright so long as not to excess. What about gluttony, smoking, gossip, etc., etc., etc.

Jesus said to get the log out of our own eye before we try to get the speck out of our brothers eye.

On the other hand I appreciate her concern for compromising the faith. I too have Christian things on my blog and then yet will have a post on doctor candy or whatever. So, I actually have taken some of what she has said to heart because at times I question myself.

    Nice blog!

annoymous: thank you for your care, concern and honesty in your posting. I appreciate your zeal for the "Things of God". I understand your position, I also understand my role as a Christian, as a witness and my accountability to My Lord and my God.

We will work it out- in with and by the Convicting power of the Holy Spirit. You have done what the Holy Spirit promted you to do as a Christian and I have acknowledged it.

You now know this site is not for you. Thank you for your concern and prayers.

  8. seaspray: Welcome and Thanks! I went back and took down a lot of things I had originally posted on my blog after reflection and prayer about a month after I started it. They weren't consistent with a Christian walk. I wanted to be accepted and "liked" to the exclusion of almost any restraint. I made a mistake as that is not who I really am. I will never be able to win the fight of the dual nature and I also acknowledge the fact that we should be either HOT or Cold. That scripture always brings me back to the core value side of my Faith.

I make no apologies nor do I have to defend myself to any Man/Woman. Only God- and sometimes my wife--LOL!!

Just for the record-not that it matters- I haven't had a drop of alcohol in 15 plus years. Not because I have anything against it-nor do I "promote it". I just choose not to drink. This Blog is the one area where I don't have to be "ON" all the time and I can be open and honest. That's not hypocrisy. I knew this would happen and still I choose not to use comment moderation etc. Everyone has free reign to say anything within reason on this blog. Thanks for the post and allowing me to express my feelings a little more!

    Please stop back by,

    John
