ACHOO! POLLEN STORM

THIS HAS ACTUALLY BEEN CALLED A POLLEN STORM, JUST LIKE A DUST STORM. THE PILOTS AT THE FLY-IN SAID IT HINDERED VISIBILITY JUST LIKE SMOKE, SMOG, ETC!

WE HAVE NEVER HAD THE POLLEN STORM EXPRESSION USED UNTIL THIS WEEK!!!!

The pics below show the Pine Tree starting from Flower to Just before producing pollen-(the Blue clusters). Believe it or not the Pine Trees have NOT even started dropping their pollen yet. Pine Pollen is actually too large to get into the airway and cause severe allergies. The Nose hairs (Cilia) and lining the Bronchi and Lungs move this up and out! Maybe that's why Snot is yellow!  Eww Gross!

When it finally rains- the Rivers will be as Solid a yellow Color as the Pond, Which of course catches it all from all the trees around the house.

Now imaging a Concrete City, all the neighborhoods, everything--being washed into the rivers and out to the Ocean.

Nature is awesome!!!

CAUSE AND EFFECT- these pines have just started dropping pollen...notice the yellow now- instead of the blue clusters shown below!

MAJOR CULPRIT- Early OAK (Water Oak)

WORST CULPRIT-THE PINE & IT HASN'T DROPPED much POLLEN YET!!!!

BIRTH OF POLLEN IN PINE TREE

 STEP TWO!

THE NEXT TO LAST STEP

THE SAME CORNER OF THE POND ABOUT 2 DAYS AGO!!!

THE END RESULT

UNREAL

THE CAR BEFORE IT GOT BAD! BEFORE THE FLY-IN TODAY I HAD TO HOSE IT OFF AS YOU COULD NOT SEE IN THROUGH THE WINDOWS!!!!!

  1. I was reading a facebook post of a friend from NC who said that if she'd wanted a yellow car, she'd bought one! Oh well, heading that direction tomorrow, maybe ya'll get some rain first to clear the air. It is neat to see pollen in lakes, making a river toward the spillway.

  4. Unbelievable! I haven't stopped sneezing for about two weeks, so I'm sure some of that SC wind has blown my way. Great photos, amiguito!

  5. Jeannie,

It bothers a little, but most people think that is the major allergen, when it's much smaller stuff. Like Dexter, Cat Dander, and our Dog-Hope!! Dust, and then especially the Weds. Ragweed is a killer for me! That yellow -- so and sooo! Also Goldenrod!

    Happy Easter Sweetie!!!
