SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY II
OLD MAN GROWS DARKER, BEFORE THE DAWN......
AND NOW I LAY ME DOWN TO SLEEP.........
I AM A LINEMAN FOR THE COUNTY.........
AND I RIDE THE MAIN ROAD.......
SEARCHIN' IN THE SUN FOR ANOTHER OVERLOAD......
(BASIC CABLE)
I HEAR YOU SINGING IN THE WIRE....
I CAN HEAR YOU THRU THE WHINE
AND THE WICHITA LINEMAN, IS STILL ON THE LINE....
I know I need a small vacation.
But it don't look like rain.
And if it snows that stretch down south,
won't ever stand the strain.
And I need you more than want you.
But it don't look like rain.
And if it snows that stretch down south,
won't ever stand the strain.
And I need you more than want you.
AND I WANT YOU FOR ALL TIME,
AND THAT WICHITA LINEMAN,
IS STILL ON THE LINE.........
WICHITA LINEMAN
BY GLENN CAMPBELL
LYRICS: JIMMY WEBB
PICS: JOHN McELVEEN
LOVE YOU ALL

Great shadow shots to go with the words! Haven't heard that one in a long time! It was good to see Campbell on the Awards show on TV earlier. Can't be fun for someone like him to have Alzheimers -- well, for that matter, it can't be fun for anyone! Have a great weekend, John!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
Sylvia- I was fortunate enough to meet him and have him play about 5 feet from me. I hate Alzheimer's, but he is fighting a good fight!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week my friend,
John
I love the fun and adventure in your shadow shots-that last one really nails it!
ReplyDeleteI like your unique way to create your pictures/posts! Can't wait what surprises us next weekend...
ReplyDeleteHave a good week ahead!
What are you going to do when the sun don't shine? Great shots!
ReplyDeleteNow I'll have the song stuck in my head for the rest of the evening! Never mind, the shadow shots are excellent!!
ReplyDeleteso much fun...thank you for your kind comment on my post.
ReplyDeleteThe singer Mr. Campbell has such a rich voice, the lyrics of Jim Webb weaving a rich tapestry. The loneliness of working pole to pole is what the song says. Happily, your linesman duties on the ground are fun instead...
ReplyDeletePaula- Thanks soooo much!!
ReplyDeleteJohn
sage-- I don't know- but we are fixin to get nailed with rain--but boy do we need it!
J
frayed-- Thanks----feel free to hum along!! ;-)
J
Laura-- You are very welcome! Have a good weekend!
J
Ralph- The loneliness stuck me too. But I am safe and sound on the ground! Thanks for the visit!

ReplyDeleteThe games shadow people play! Love the lyrics fragmented by complementing photos! A fascinating post!
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard that song in a long time! I'm sure I'll be hearing it in my head for the rest of the evening.
ReplyDeleteGee, you are almost as tall as that telephone pole! tee hee
Like Ralph (my hubby) I also feel the sadness and loneliness of the song.
Happy shadow seeking this week, John!

ReplyDeleteI'm not much into country music, but I do love Glen Campbell AND that song! Great series of pix, John!!

Spooky - I can imagine some of these advertising one of those slasher horror films ...... you know the ones I mean, man goes mad, murdering teenagers in a secluded area.
ReplyDeleteJimmy Webb sure is a prolific lyricist. I wikied him and was surprised by all the hit songs he has penned. Your Shadow Shots are very clever this week. I shared them with my hubby who has worked for a utility company for almost 40 years now...He was a groundman to the linemen when he first started with the company! Happy SSS & blessings!!

I cannot believe that your mom is in Burnesvillle. I cannot begin to count up all the times we went there over the 18 years in Asheville.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is a small world. I really enjoyed this post of your shadows to Wichita Lineman. You really did one fab hob with it. I can’t believe it but we are actually getting our first real snow. Sadly the roads and ground had a 65 degree day yesterday so it is not sticking. T’is a different story in the trees. Please oh please let it keep snowing so I do not have to go keep the cellblock tomorrow.genie
How Cool!!!
