I believe we are all Energy (SPIRITS) and are affected by the energy surrounding us. I CONSCIOUSLY CHOOSE to have a POSITIVE outlook on life as much as possible. I CHOOSE to be an Optimist. I refuse to pick up and carry anyone elses' baggage or labels. I have that right, and I am growing into having and USING that ability. That ability, the stronger it grows: affords me fruit.
The fruit, is the Fruit of the Spirit: Mentioned in the Bible. Summed up, I think mostly it's PEACE. TRANQUILITY would be another word. I like harmony. I don't like discord and conflict. I avoid it if possible, diffuse it if I can, and dispatch with it as quickly as possible if it can't be avoided.
Peace,
John
Here are the fruits of the Spirit:
Galatians 5:22
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Galatians 5:21-23
Me: These are the fruits of your labor that God promises You if you are walking in obedience with His Spiritual Energy. The positive and good things He set in motion for us.
Here it is in context so you won't think I'm just picking and choosing scripture to fit my life. I choose to Inherit the Kingdom of God, so I steer clear of the above as much as I can and live by walking in the light.
Galatians 5:18-23 (New International Version)
18But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.
19The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
This is a choice, and against this there is no law. So I'm not bound by legalism, but I'm free to enjoy myself. It's a right I've inherited in the here and now, and I choose to stay in this area of POSITIVE attitudes and people. When you are around, create and maintain this type of environment, I find I am much more CREATIVE and PRODUCTIVE in ALL aspects of my life. From my relationship with myself, wife, co-workers etc. I imagine more, I smile more, I laugh more, I paint in my head, I sing, I daydream...I'm basically happy! Some days it works all day. Some days it works for 10 minutes -- LOL.....then I have to choose to come back to being Positive; by letting whatever negatives I ALLOWED in or encountered for however long. It's MY CHOICE how I handle them: Hey, I didn't say It was perfect, but it works perfectly, the design is perfect, and as I mature I find I can regain that position much more quickly than I used to. So if I keep practicing, I'll get even better at it.
Then I can smile, and do little random acts of kindness, like holding doors open for people and driving courteously, smiling, saying Thank You and meaning it, and the ripple effect may even have a positive impact on others! I Hope this has a POSITIVE impact on you as you read and maybe even ponder on this. Meditate and chew on how much of our lives IS created in our minds, by our attitudes and words. And how much IS CREATED FOR US, by allowing OTHERS to put words and thoughts in our Spirits- like the evening News, or some grouchy butthole at the DMV or someone cutting you off in traffic. Big Deal! Do we need that much Negativity? or do we need to maintain and KEEP that much negativity for any length of time and then get up the next morining and wait for it to start....all over again. It's Your Choice.
I'm just sayin'
I sometimes wonder - how do you convey negative things positively? I don't think I am a negative person but there are many things that bug me that I can not ignore. On the other hand, I am not inclined to be grumpy even if I feel like it and I will let people know I'm grumpy sometimes but it has nothing to do with them and more or less apologize for anything terrible that might come out of my mouth.
ReplyDeleteYou tell it like it is, Sir John. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love fruits...like me, you, the fruits of the spirit, etc.
There's no time for negativity. "Life's short...eternity's long." (I read that on a church sign today.)
Jeannie,
ReplyDeleteJust the fact that you let people know you are grumpy is positive in itself. You recognize that and care enough to let people know it. It'[s not that we are grumpy or not grumpy- we just are---and it's how we choose to handle that grumpiness, or how long we keep it that we can control. If we are grumpy we can't just lie it away and say I'm not grumpy- but if we find out what negative energy (if we can) that made us that way we can change it it. Is it low blood sugar? Eat, Is it a person- Kill them! Etc!

Awesome Scarlet, you live life about as honest as anyone I have encountered based on your blog. I know your not perfect, but we are really close together on the spiritual path. Probably walking in close proximity, overlooking the same vistas and experiences of life. As a matter of fact. Jeannie and Sweeti and Poopsie. Ya'll are too. That's why the connection with the blog.

I can really identify with this post! My boss revels in negativity, especially this time of year.
ReplyDeleteWe work 8 hrs/day together in close proximity, and her negativity really takes its toll on me some days. I try to lighten the mood and kid her out of this behavior, but some days I just give up!
She's constantly jealous of what others have and NEVER stops to count the many blessings she has. What a sad, unproductive way to live your life! :(
tshsmom-
ReplyDeleteI pity you! Oh that would drag me soooo down. You must be very strong to tolerate it. Good luck and stay positive if you can--that's a tough one, when they're in your face all day! And your boss to boot...........
