YARD RAPE!

YARD RAPE!

THEY PAVED PARADISE AND PUT UP A PARKING LOT!
CLICK TO LISTEN WHILE READING.

LANDLORD CUT DOWN 7 LARGE WHITE OAKS AND SEVERAL SMALLER TREES IN YARD THAT WERE "TOO CLOSE TO HOUSE". YOU COULD NOT PUT YOUR ARMS AROUND THESE HARDWOODS.  HE WAS AFRAID THEY WOULD DAMAGE IT. WE HAVE BEEN HERE 10 YEARS AND THEY SHELTER ENTIRE HOUSE FROM SUN AND WIND FROM MAJOR STORMS! NEVER A LIGHTNING STRIKE OR A LARGE LIMB DOWN- EVER!!

HE HAD EVERY RIGHT TO DO THIS, AND HAD TOLD US FOR A YEAR OR SO HE WAS GOING TO HAVE THEM TRIMMED, AND A "COUPLE" REMOVED.

IT HAS BEEN IN THE MID TO HIGH NINETIES FOR TWO WEEKS NOW, SOME 10 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE DOG DAYS AREN'T UNTIL JULY AND AUGUST!. TEMPERATURE IN HOUSE BEFORE TREES WERE CUT WAS 78 DEGREES- MID-DAY, WITH THE AC CUTTING OFF AT NIGHT. EVEN IN HIGH NINETIES IT WAS VERY, VERY COMFORTABLE INSIDE.

TEMPERATURE ON PORCHES PRIOR TO TREE REMOVAL- 88-90 DEGREES. TODAY--TEMP HIT 100 DEGREES ON BOTH PORCHES!!!

LOWEST TEMP AFTER TREES CUT- 86 DEGREES INSIDE THE HOUSE--98 OUTSIDE WITH HEAT INDEX OF 102- THIS IS WITH THE CENTRAL A/C & A SUPPLEMENTAL WINDOW AC UNIT, PLUS 4 FANS ADDED! ALL- RUNNING WIDE OPEN! I REALLY CAN'T BELIEVE IT!
CAN'T WAIT TO SEE ELECTRIC BILL! IT IS NOW 76 DEGREES OUTSIDE (AFTER THE RAIN)- 82 INSIDE, AND THE AC IS RUNNING AT 6:00 IN THE MORNING! WE CAN'T EVEN HEAR  OVER ALL THE NOISE AND NOT TO MENTION AN ENTIRE  ECO-SYSTEM DESTROYED.

50-60 YEAR OLD HARDWOODS- GONE IN 4 HOURS!!!!!!!

FOREVER!

THE FIREWOOD WILL BE DONATED TO AN IRAQI WAR VET WHO BURNS ONLY WOOD FOR HEAT IN WINTER! THAT IS A GREAT END FOR THE OLD BOYS!
SOME POSITIVE CAN ALWAYS BE FOUND!

MAJOR STORM DAMAGE TO SOME APARTMENTS TODAY, AND TO NEW BASEBALL FIELD, & PRESS BOX, DURING REGIONAL NCAA BASEBALL GAME. 1500 W/O POWER. PTL--NO INJURIES- AS ENTIRE ROOF WAS RIPPED OFF APARTMENT BUILDINGS AND CARS DESTROYED IN PARKING LOT. THE DAMAGED AREA WAS ABOUT 10 MILES FROM HOME. WE BARELY GOT THE EDGE OF THIS ONE. THESE STRAIGHT LINE WINDS CAN NOW HIT HOUSE UNIMPEDED AND POSSIBLY DO MORE DAMAGE, AS THE TREES WERE A GREAT BUFFER.

WE REGULARLY GET 30-40 MPH WINDS IN THUNDERSTORMS AT LEAST 1-2 TIMES PER WEEK HERE ALL SUMMER LONG, AND IN SEVERE STORMS:  50-60 MPH WINDS WITH DIME TO QUARTER SIZED HAIL. NO DAMAGE HAS BEEN DONE IN 10 YEARS WE'VE BEEN HERE EVEN WITH 2-3 SMALL CONFIRMED TORNADOES IN THE AREA.

CAN'T EVEN PARK CAR IN  DRIVEWAY AS IT WAS TOO HOT IN MID-DAY SUN, AS I AM NOW AFRAID WINDOWS WILL BURST.

PLEASE DON'T GET ME WRONG--WE ARE BLESSED TO HAVE A HOUSE WITH AC--SOME PEOPLE DON'T. I HAVE CARRIED IN MANY A DEAD PERSON WITH A CORE BODY TEMP OF 108-110 DEGREES-THEY LITERALLY BAKED TO DEATH IN THEIR OWN HOME!

I REMEMBER ONE SUMMER IN THE LATE 70'S WHEN I MYSELF TOOK IN 5 HEAT RELATED DEATHS THAT WERE EASILY PREVENTABLE. WE EVEN STOPPED THE AMBULANCE AT GAS STATIONS AND GRABBED BAGS OF ICE TO PACK AROUND THE PATIENTS, AND TOOK OFF W/O EVEN PAYING!

THE REASON FOR THIS RANT IS CONTINUED BELOW--

LOVE YOU ALL

JMc

JUST FYI--PLEASE CHECK ON ELDERLY PERSONS THIS SUMMER--(AND PETS) WE HAVE A FAN DRIVE FOR THE ELDERLY THAT CAN'T AFFORD THEM, COORDINATED THROUGH THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS.....GIVING FANS AWAY TO THOSE WHO CAN'T AFFORD THEM.  --PLEASE CONSIDER HELPING WITH THIS IF AVAILABLE OR APPLICABLE IN YOUR AREA!

What is heat stroke?       CLICK FOR MORE INFO AND RESOURCES ON HEAT RELATED SYMPTOMS, AND TREATMENT PRIOR TO EMS ARRIVAL......

Heat stroke is a form of hyperthermia, an abnormally elevated body temperature with accompanying physical and neurological symptoms. Unlike heat cramps and heat exhaustion, two other forms of hyperthermia that are less severe, heat stroke is a true medical emergency that can be fatal if not properly and promptly treated. Heat stroke is also sometimes referred to as heatstroke.
The body normally generates heat as a result of metabolism, and is usually able to dissipate the heat by either radiation of heat through the skin or by evaporation of sweat. However, in extreme heat, high humidity, or vigorous physical exertion under the sun, the body may not be able to dissipate the heat and the body temperature rises, sometimes up to 106 F (41.1 C) or higher. Another cause of heat stroke is dehydration. A dehydrated person may not be able to sweat fast enough to dissipate heat, which causes the body temperature to rise.

A NEW TREATMENT THAT HAS BEEN SHOWN TO BE EFFECTIVE IS SIMPLY PLACING ONE HAND, UP TO THE WRIST IN AN ICE AND WATER BATH--IT CAN DROP CORE TEMP AND CAN SAVE A LIFE- BUT LINKS PROVIDE THE BEST TREATMENT OPTIONS!

  1. Here, there's no way the landlord would have been allowed to cut those trees down. He'd face huge fines.

You have to wonder what people did to stay cool in the old days before A/C. Must have been brutal. Guess it still is for huge numbers around the world.

  2. We're already having late summer type temps. Haven't hit 100 yet here, but places all around us have. We're predicted 99 today.

Despite it all, I still prefer summer to winter.

  3. I hate seeing trees cut down! They are a screen and produce shade etc. The only time a tree should be removed is when it's causing damage to property. Well that's what I think!

Some people seem to prefer to live in urban jungles though.
