BILLY GRAHAM'S PRAYER

BILLY GRAHAM'S PRAYER

Amazing
Current Age: 93

Truth …… from a man the media has never been able to throw dirt on ..... amazing!

He has certainly hit the "world" on the head!

Billy Graham's Prayer For Our Nation
THIS MAN SURE HAS A GOOD VIEW OF WHAT'S HAPPENING TO OUR COUNTRY!

'Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem. We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from sin and Set us free.  Amen!'
With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we once again can be called 'One nation under God!
'

God bless America,

America, bless God!

Love to you all

  1. Hmmm. I don't think welfare automatically equals laziness. Yes, the lazy very likely take advantage of it but I, for one, am very happy that it was there as a safety net for our family years ago when my husband couldn't work because of his heart. So the problem is with the administration of welfare, not with its existence.
Also, as much as I don't like it, I don't see abortion as necessarily as wrong as I once did - at least for those who do not share the faith. I wonder how many billions our planet would strain to support if it were not available and the life of poverty, starvation and disease and maybe abuse many of those unborn children would have been subjected to.

While yes, sin is sin, and God views it the same, we can't hold everyone to the same standard that we hold. Regardless, we all sin and require forgiveness and no sin is whiter than any other.

Besides all that, I think that many of the complaints have been uttered in all generations and that society in general is probably better in many ways.

I'm having a hard time with that welfare line. How can Billy Graham, living extremely well off from the donations of others - CHARITY!!!! - deny it to other unfortunates who have not had his opportunities or talents? That's harsh.

Sorry. But I know you can take it and love me anyway :) I'm questioning a lot of the modern church's positions these days.

  2. I must say I can agree with your point(s) of view. As an outline I think he has expressed well, the problems with the attitudes of people. I too am grateful I had Disability insurance and received help when I needed it. The great thing is that these are guidelines and for the most part we can find common ground in almost every area. As you so aptly put it- regardless of our disagreements we will Love each other anyway!

I personally am totally through with CHURCH and Organized Religion which puts us right back under the Law that we were set free from.

Love ya Jean- Truly I do!

  3. As much as I have issues with some of what he says, my great-grandfather had an instant conversion at one of his rallies in the 1970s. It made him a better man.

  4. The world has definitely taken a sharp turn. I've been trying to talk with my kids more about what they KNOW is right and what society is telling them is right. Not easy, my friend. Great post.

  5. I saw Billy Graham speak when I was sixteen. I wasn't converted and didn't feel a pull to join church or anything- but I do remember feeling respect for him. I appreciated the way he delivered his message. I felt he was sincere unlike many other evangelists who are not sincere.

It's good to hear these kinds of messages whether we agree or disagree. It helps expand our thoughts.
    Thanks John for sharing!

  6. I guess for context I should say I was sixteen thirty-four years ago. Billy Graham looked much younger then. I, of course, don't look a day over thirty. Gulp.

  7. For the most part, that was right on point. I do have a problem with people in his position becoming multi-millionaires because of what they do. Other than that, I'd say you are exactly right about him never being associated with a lot of the hypocracy some of his peers have. In fact, I think the most heat he ever took for anything was when he recently called the Mormon Church a cult... It's since been withdrawn.
