This is part and parcel of my journey through life, as seen through my eyes, heart and mind. Scary I know!!- Hopefully this Blog will allow us to Learn & LAUGH, as well as to THINK and QUESTION: Who we are, Where we are heading and Who we are becoming- Join in on my journey?....... Or Not!
GOD BLESS AMERICA; AMERICA, BLESS GOD!
Most unusual, interesting subjects from a shadowy world! The first one begs for some thinking, wondering just what and where it is while the second one is a chance to dream! Great photos!
Gemma-- Thanks so much for such nice comments! I so appreciate you and the others carrying on this medium for us to join together and express ourselves!
Kelly- No, a Doodle bug is what we called Ant Lions as kids. Google this critter--it is awesome! I did a post on them a while back. Roly Poly are cool too- but an Ant will walk over the indentation, and the grains of sand are so fine it can't climb out. The falling sand grains alert the Ant Lion and he flips more dirt onto the Ant sending him into the Lions waiting jaws! You can catch them using a Spider web...just like a fishing pole...he grabs the web and sticks to it, and then you can let him go unharmed!
There is no bug--He's buried under the sand--the caption was misleading!
Joan- That is a large plastic baseball or softball floating in a shallow pond. The grass is underneath and the shadows and reflections just caught my eye.
The bug is pretty small, but they build a decent sized trap. some are as large as a 1/2 dollar, but most are about quarter sized.
I have dug for doodle bugs many times. It was fun when by chance one came out. We just used an old broom straw. I still have some in the summer around the yard.
Doodle bug? Hehe! I've never heard of them before but I like the name! Ok, I'm now thinking any little critter I can't identify I'll be calling a doodle bug from now on!

When you get close to small things, you see things that you never saw before--whole, tiny worlds!
ReplyDeleteMANY SHADOW-SEEKERS SAY
Many shadow-seekers say,
“Oh, the one that got away!”
Why are you so uptight, folks?
Can’t you take light’s little jokes?
