CHRISTMAS WAS GREAT!
Me--age 4! Did we get cool gifts back then or what!!???? Mom's legs in background.
(MOM EVEN GOT ME THE HAT!!!)
THE TRIP TO THE MOUNTAINS WAS FANTASTIC- AND SPENDING 4 DAYS WITH A MOM WHO IS SHARP AS A TACK AND IN GREAT HEALTH IS COMPLETELY INDESCRIBABLE!
I AM TRULY BLESSED.
I HOPE YOUR HOLIDAYS CONTINUE TO MEET AND EXCEED ALL YOUR EXPECTATIONS AND MAY 2012 BE AN EXCEPTIONAL YEAR FOR YOU!
IT SEEMS AS WE DRAW CLOSE TO 2012 WE THINK WE GET A DO-OVER. COMPLETE WITH RESOLUTIONS AND ALL THE REFLECTING THAT GOES WITH THE END OF ONE THING AND THE BEGINNING OF ANOTHER.
IT'S INTERESTING THAT WE HAVE THE SAME OPPORTUNITY EVERY MINUTE OF EVERY DAY, YET WE RARELY TAKE THE CHANCES GIVEN US TO HIT THE REBOOT, PAUSE OR DELETE BUTTON ON THE ATTITUDE DE JOUR.
WE CAN CHANGE OUR MIND, ATTITUDE, APPROACH, REACTION, ETC., TO ALMOST ANY GIVEN SITUATION OR CIRCUMSTANCE INSTANTLY, IF WE SEE WE ARE MISSING THE MARK. YET WE RARELY CHOOSE TO DO IT UNTIL IT'S TOO LATE..
HOW MANY OF US EXERCISE THIS AWESOME FREEDOM WE ARE GIVEN EACH DAY?
DO YOU BELIEVE IN NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS?
WHY DO WE SET THE BAR SO HIGH SOMETIMES, KNOWING WE WILL PROBABLY FAIL, AND WAIT EAGERLY FOR THAT GUILT TO RUSH OVER US, AS IF IT IS THE ATONEMENT FOR ALL OUR GATHERED AND STORED UP SINS?
I'M JUST SAYING--WE DON'T HAVE TO WAIT AND SET LOFTY GOALS ONE DAY OUT OF THE YEAR. WE CAN CHOOSE TO KEEP A SHORT ACCOUNT OF OUR FAILURES AND CORRECT THEM IMMEDIATELY, OR SOON AFTER THEY ARE COMMITTED OR OMITTED!
LET'S DARE TO SET OUR SIGHTS ON OBTAINABLE GOALS, SUCH AS A RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS FOR A STRANGER, LETTING SOMEONE OUT IN TRAFFIC, SMILING AT SOMEONE YOU CAN TELL IS HURTING, TELLING SOMEONE YOU APPRECIATE THEM ...... OR NOT! ;-) !
IT'S FREE, DOABLE, AND THE PAYBACK IS IMMEDIATE!
LOVE YOU ALL
JMc
I know your mom was delighted to see you. I'm glad your Christmas was good. And a new year is always nice to look forward to, isn't it?
ReplyDelete"HOW MANY OF US EXERCISE THIS AWESOME FREEDOM WE ARE GIVEN EACH DAY?"
ReplyDeleteTWM raises his hand quietly and then in the same manner puts it back in his pocket.
Your "random acts of kindness" used to be called "manners". Remember? I have always done these things. Still, it's always nice to experience them from someone else. There are a number of a-holes in the world but still many decent people
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat photo! Glad you had a great Christmas and may 2011 be a great year!
ReplyDeleteLynn-- Thanks--it was awesome--and a New Year seems to offer Hope!

You're right, too...we CAN choose to start anew each moment of our lives. I still love that fresh feeling of January 1, though. :)

Robyn,
ReplyDeleteI think the daily short account of my actions wins out over one yearly blanket statement.
