OUR LAST HUG

OUR LAST HUG

Bye dad--see you in heaven!
I went to see him that December. I lost Him that June 3 years ago.

It's amazing how many different things can trigger a memory. Good , bad, sad, joyous..... I'm not sure why I posted this today...but something compelled me do it.

Almost anything; a song, a phrase, a person who looks all the world like them, a similar situation, can cause that small still voice inside to lead you or prompt you to do it..

This was so special. And I almost missed it using the excuse that I didn't want to see him like that! What a huge mistake that would have been.

Because HE WAS STILL HIM!

IMHO, LOOKS DON'T MATTER! That's just an excuse. Maybe valid for some, but from my perspective after the fact--totally bogus!

Hug someone today. Just a special I love you, or care about you hug. Maybe no words are needed. Just the hug!

It is so healing! For both parties!

I Love you all!  GROUP HUG MY FRIENDS!!!!!!!!

  3. That is a beautiful photo. Your Dad is smiling. :)

Did you know that heaven is outside time, so you are already in Heaven with him? Isn't that a wonderful thought?

Now I'm going to go and hug some people.

  8. Glad you did the right thing. It's so much better than living with regret. It's a nice picture. I never take pictures of what might be an important moment.

  9. I remember very clearly hugging my dad for the last time in the nursing home in Arizona at the end of December 2007. "See ya later," I said, as I slipped out the door, walked down the hall and drove back to California.

But I didn't see him later. Within three weeks, he was dead.

I still find myself hugging him in my dreams.

  11. John... I came here to see your Shadow Shot and scrolled down a bit and saw the caption on the photo. I don't know you very well and wondered if this just happened. Then, I see it was a few years ago. Makes no difference. I was like you. I didn't want to see the ones I love "like that" either. I don't know how I got over it, but I did and was at my Mother's side when she passed in Feb of 2010. I sat next to her, hugged her, sang to her and prayed with her. She is the one that had the courage and she taught me how to die.
Just a month ago, I went to see a favorite uncle. He was a few days before death and I was able to see him, tell him I love him and hug him. I said goodbye to him, something that I missed doing with so many others in my life because I was afraid, even myn own Father.
I know a lot about being compelled to do things, like you mentioned about posting this picture this particular day. I have learned that many times, it's not about us at all, and sometimes you never know the reason why or who it might be about, but it must happen, it did, and the result is what it is.
Glad I came here today to see the Shadow Shot. Glad you came to my blog to see mine. Glad I saw this post.
    I wish you Peace
