OLDER & WISER

Another birthday come and gone. Average as birthdays go- except for the swelling in my lower legs and shortness of breath. Went to Cardiologist and he ACTUALLY said-"this sometimes happens in the summertime!!!!" 1+ pitting edema- happens in the summertime-ay ay ay!!! He never touched me-- not once- HE NEVER LISTENED TO MY CHEST!!!!!!
Note to self: Change Cardiologists! However the Swelling is going down and I'm breathing easier. I did not ingest a lot of Sodium- eat anything loaded with it- no new meds etc. so I don't know why it happened. I actually feel really well. I'm taking another week off work and then I'm going back to work on 8 hour shifts instead of three 12's to see how I do.
Hammer- Had to take the Lexnmark Printer back- it died after 3 days! Yep- belly up- something with the power cord and an adapter in the back. So i went with an old standby- Got me an HP Office Jet All in One. Hope I have as much success with this as I did with my last 30.00 one. It last 3 years!!!!
Well I'm reconfiguring my puter still- trying to decide what Apps I want and what I don't- so I'll check in over the weekend. Hope every ones Summer is going well and I'll try to catch up on all the blogs tonight or Sunday.
Oh yeah- going to Flea market Sunday to check out some killer prices on some Rod and Reels they have there- a friend went and got some Ugly Sticks- no comments! for 15.00 each. We plan to go night fishing for some Crappie, and Striped Bass. It's just too danged hot to go mid-day. So that ought to be fun!
Blessings to all- and speaking of fishing that reminds me of an old song:
She was only the Fisherman's' Daughter,
But she was reeling when she saw my Rod!!
Did you actually expect to escape with out a corny JuanPun?????
May it never be!!!

QUOTABLE QUOTES & BELLY BLING-
IMPERATIVE!!!!!
YOU MUST SEE THE COMPETITION AT THE END
My Computer Crashed- I have No Idea why! It has never even Hiccuped prior to this. I had made so many customizable changes to it and now I have to try to reproduce them all. Arrrrrggggggh--- Multiple downloads and then configuring them all- At least I did burn a Disc of many of my favorite Applications so a lot of them are on that! Nice time off work eh?
And NO, Smarty butt- I didn't have a recent back-up, and YES it is my fault and I know I should! I do have a backup of all my applications- but as far as all my new pics and stuff- GONE!!!
I know--some of you are clapping because the spider is gone! And I had just pulled out a disc to burn those images too! Maybe they are still on the puter since I don't think I did a complete hard format restore of the drive! (but I'm pretty sure I did)-since I had to reconfigure Settings, fonts, firewall, desktop, favorites, IE7, ET.all, I probably did--(Yep- I was hungry. So I et it al!) I'll have to check and see.
But after installing the new Duct work (THE AC WENT OUT TOO!) at 102 degrees and a heat index of 114: I was beat. Hammer and AD and Matt- STOP laughing RIGHT NOW if you are reading this!!! The ladies in my life, I know are at least only snickering- cept Babs and she's LHAO!!!!! But one great thing came out of it!!! I didn't DIE! And with that kind of strain and at those temps- if my Thumping Gizzard handled that: well I think I'm good to go!!!
Any suggestions (I know Poopsy- don't buy a DELL-LOL) as to where my restore points or possible backups would be on the system and how to roll them back, if they did survive? Registry- file names...do a search for *.bak ??? The basic System restore option won't let me do it- but I thought maybe there is a way to go through the Registry...... Nah- belay that last comment- I can see the FLAMES now! LOL
It happened after I installed my new Printer but I don't think that did it. I changed the refresh rate on my Monitor settings and It would not let me get out of a black screen- said the refresh rate of 120 was not supported (I went 1024 x 768...I want this setting but everything is too small for these old eyes!) and that's where I stayed, until I reformatted. I tried everything-and once I went into BIOS--SYS.INI, BOOT Sector, etc! well....need I say more. This post will have to tide you over for a little bit. DO NOT MISS THE JEWELRY CONTEST THAT FOLLOWS- IT'S AWESOME!!!!! I'm not sure- but it looks an awful lot like....hmmm- Scarlet--No.....MonkeyGirl----No........I got it! That pic that was recently moved OFF a site now that she has "A MAN" in her life- LOL-- Yeppers- Dead ringer for LOVING ANNIE!!!!
DO NOT TELL ANNIE WHERE I LIVE-- I FEAR FOR MY LIFE: JUST KIDDING, MY DEAR, MY LOVE, MY SNOOKUMS, MY ORCA...I MEAN ORCHESTRA...I MEAN I'D BETTER STFU IS WHAT I MEAN--.

A magazine recently ran a "Dilbert Quotes" contest. They were looking for people to submit quotes from their real-life Dilbert-type managers. These were voted the top ten quotes in corporate America:
"As of tomorrow, employees will only be able to access the building using individual security cards. Pictures will be taken next Wednesday, and employees will receive their cards in two weeks."
(This was the winning quote from Fred Dales, Microsoft Corp. in Redmond WA)
"What I need is an exact list of specific unknown problems we might encounter."
(Lykes Lines Shipping)
"E-mail is not to be used to pass on information or data. It should be used only for company business." (Accounting manager, Electric Boat Company)
"This project is so important we can't let things that are more important interfere with it." (Advertising/Marketing manager, United Parcel Service)
"Doing it right is no excuse for not meeting the schedule."
(Plant Manager, Delco Corporation)
"No one will believe you solved this problem in one day! We've been working on it for months. Now go act busy for a few weeks and I'll let you know when it's time to tell them."
(R&D supervisor, Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing/3M Corp.)
Quote from the Boss: "Teamwork is a lot of people doing what I say."
Marketing executive, Citrix Corporation)
My sister passed away and her funeral was scheduled for Monday. When I told my Boss, he said she died on purpose so that I would have to miss work on the busiest day of the year. He then asked if we could change her burial to Friday. He said, "That would be better for me."
(Shipping executive, FTD Florists)
"We know that communication is a problem, but the company is not going to discuss it with the employees."
(Switching supervisor, AT&T Long Lines Division)

THINGS I'M VERY VERY...... THANKFUL FOR (part 2)
That God sees Beauty in EVERYTHING and EVERYONE!!!!& that I'm not Quite This UGLY!!!

1. It's 4:00 am-- BED!!!
2. Out all day- NO CHEST PAIN! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU LORD!
3. A New Lexmark 5450-m Printer/Scanner/Copier/Fax- Weed whacker and Moustache Trimmer!
4. You guys!
Will finish the truly major ones soon- We need AC fixed- ours is almost dead and we are looking at 99- 100- and 100 degree temps and high humidity this week! Was 86 degrees in house today with AC wide open! 3 Vents -out- Duct work shot! Landlord notified. But I'm thankful we have "some air", some money to buy a couple of extra Box Fans today to help out, and a place to get out of the Sun, as well as the prospect of a fixed and working AC soon. Some people- many people, have no AC; nor any prospect or hope of any to come. Yet, a lot of them consider themselves blessed too! Hmmmmmmm.... wonder why?
A Very Thankful John
A CHALLENGE
WHAT- ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR- TODAY- RIGHT NOW----NO MATTER HOW BAD CIRCUMSTANCES SEEM OR THINGS MAY BE OR SEEM---- THINK OF- ONE, (1), JUST ONE, ANY, SMALL THING YOU ARE THANKFUL, OR GRATEFUL FOR OR BLESSED BY, AND LET YOUR MIND JUST DWELL- DWELL- THINK, MEDITATE- CHEW, REFLECT, ON THAT ONE, (1), ONE: SMALL THING. (Write it down somewhere with the date and see if it shows up weeks, months maybe years from now when you really really need it!!

I'M SOOOO THANKFUL- SO THANKFUL
I cannot begin to express the gratitude, thankfulness and appreciation that sometimes wells up inside of me and almost explodes trying to find an orifice to exit from. Most of the time it's a buildup of the little things. Things that I (we) normally take for granted. Like...freedom- see great post at Just Peachy on this. The TANSTAAFL POST!!!! Great angle Babs!- Props!
But back to thankfulness, gratefulness, appreciation. After recent Hospital stays- (One the Worst experience of my life- and One - comparatively one of the best-) and a Newer Healthier & Still Beating -(THANK YOU GOD) HEART- it's the infinitesimally small things I so Love and find comfort in.
This started even before the Stent. We lost our first home that we built with sweat equity in 1985 and paid 14.7% Interest- LOL. We refinanced and got it down to less than 6!! Due to medical problems with my beautiful wife when she became disabled after an extremely bad car accident. Don't go awwwwww- she looks great and doesn't even limp!! LOL. But anyway we were talking today and we would be 7 years away from paying off the house. Built for 59K- now selling for 125K with only a well as an Improvement!! Now that could make you mad, or get you down in the dumps- but not us! LOL- Damn it! (Swearing under breath, kicks Dog, looks for Cat---- !@#^&*%$ &^$$@! --OK--Better now!)
So- we are staying in a dear friend of ours from Church's, Mothers OLD Mobile home. She contracted Alzheimers and has mercifully passed away. We were going to stay here (1-2 years!) until we got our feet back on the ground. 7 years later we are still here and no closer to the Land in the Country on the 5 acres with the Pond...blah, blah. And YES the dream of that is still alive! DO NOT EVER LET YOU DREAMS DIE!!!! BECAUSE THEN YOU DIE TOO!!!!
So, after a series of NO JOB for one year and then a job at a retail store stocking Vacuum cleaners and pricing goods overnight- 10:00 pm- 6:00 am-@ 7.50 hr- you do what you have to for family!(They locked us in the store) I vowed never to not have another License again. My Paramedic ticket in SC is so wrapped up in the Good ol' Boy system- unless you work for Big Greedy Corporate EMS- (Refer to AD's post for this monstrosity) you cannot work in the Private Sector. I have applied and paid 499.00 and re-arranged my work schedule to take a refresher course only to have 1 cancelled after the first class- Not enough students- we need 12 to "TURN A PROFIT!!! So I have TRIED!!! My Paramedic Number is 407- Our Class of 28 people were the 395- to 423 Paramedics in the State- so Pretty early on in EMS-dom. (1976-1985)
And while I have worked as an Office Manger for 20 years in 2 Family Practice offices,- seen Patients, did all Office Surgery, Suturing, and Ran EMS calls to the tune of 1586 calls in one month with 4 (four Units)- most of them adavanced- I still did not have a License. My own Dumb-Butt fault! That's why I vowed never to let my family down and not have a license again.
So now I have tried for 5 years to get into Nursing Clinicals only to be stopped by dumbass Counselors- A Triple Bypass and a Glut of Smarter than me High School graduates with 1500 SAT's ACT's BVD's CIA and FBI's and MYSELF- yes- I always shoulder the blame because it ultimately falls back on the person and I take full responsibility or lack thereoff of my actions!! Any way it's been very frustrating since I have ALL but one Math course finished and I'm on 4 waiting lists to start Clinical's.
So- all of this has really been an eye opener for me- but meanwhile I have an excellent job as an ED Tech II (Paramedic)-since 2005 and can do all but push IV meds. (Well not technically since my certificate is-"Inactive") because I won't sell my soul to the devil and at 52 years old run a lot of BS 911- calls in our area that ammount to Fender Benders, drunks with hurt Toes and Cab Ride Delerium Tremen patients-been there, done that, got the T--well you know.
OK- OK- So do I sound Thankful, Appreciateve, Blessed, Happy SOOOOOO Far? Well- I'm getting to that!
And I truly and sincerely am. I'm so blessed- that when my printer recently died- I'm going out today and get a new one! And it's TAX FREE WEEKEND thank you very much! Unless we were staying here at 300.00 a MONTH!!!!! YES- That's right- 300.00 a month with AC/Heat and Running water and all we need- we couldn't afford it! But now we can!
So there. Part Two- the really thankful and Blessed stuff comong up!!
To Be continued,
John
