It just hit me hard for some reason!

Truly- there are no boating laws...there is not even a REQUIRED course in Boating safety or for Personal Watercraft under age 14!! How many responsible 14 year olds do you know--that can handle a Jet Ski
that does 40 plus mph!!!! (Not to say that there aren't mature 14 year olds--No offense 14 year olders!

I hope they start requiring Insurance and mandated Boating safety courses for boats over a certain horsepower. I know this is more CONTROL, but it seems that self governing in these areas is not working--already 11 deaths state wide, and we are going to try to get a Pontoon for peace and quiet , evenings on the lake.

Good luck with that huh?

There are stricter boating regulations for Salt Water and the Inter coastal Waterway- but none for Lakes.

Yeah very true when you start realizing you are not immortal. I don't see how anyone can come back from Combat and not be totally changed! God bless our Troops!

JohnFull-On-Forwardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12964018803560952364noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5771249763573109399.post-26122036339401645782010-05-04T09:48:40.506-04:002010-05-04T09:48:40.506-04:00I'm so sorry. I'm guessing that bad lighting/inexperience must have had something to do with it.

What are the boating laws like there? Here they are pretty much like driving on roads now.

We never had any deaths on our little lake (except one that I'm not sure really happened as it wasn't to a "local" and didn't happen during the busy season). There were 2 bad accidents in the 40 years we were part of the place - both with people I was close to - but no deaths.

I can imagine that the excitement of being on the cusp of life and death would become intolerable after a while. We just aren't geared for seeing that much especially as we age and know our own number will be coming up.Jeanniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15320507412459242451noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5771249763573109399.post-40238700799494919482010-05-03T22:14:32.502-04:002010-05-03T22:14:32.502-04:00Alice,
