POND, OIL, GULF COAST!

Many that have followed this blog for any time have seen countless pictures of the "Pond", 50 feet down the dirt road from the house. This is where my Snakes, Spiders,  virtually all my Nature Pics are taken. This is now completely flooded. At one time this past summer it almost went completely dry. This area is not a Natural Pond, is is merely an area where people dug out sand to be hauled off as fill dirt for many many years, and now fills with water. A Man-Made Mosquito pit-but beautiful 99% of the time! It is maybe 3-4 feet deep at it's deepest point!

This is never underwater. You can walk on dry land, well past these trees, easily for 30 yards and it will still only be swampy.

This is a picture of how the "Pond" usually looks this time of year. It was an incredibly wet winter, but we are already in a deficit since January for this year! The Trees you see in the water on the picture above- are all the way across the pond, on the far left hand side. You can barely see a slight depression in the middle, left, that is holding only a foot or so of water. There is now water in the spot where I am standing when I took this picture last Summer!

NOW PLEASE LOOK AT THE PICS BELOW......
 BEAUTIFUL AREN'T THEY?

Any guess as to what it is?

If you guessed Gas/Oil on water, you are correct. In one area of the pond when it went almost completely dry, in a beautiful patch of mud and water, complete with Tadpoles and life; this sprang up out of the ground! I can only guess that it is, a BUBBLING CRUDE, BLACK GOLD, TEXAS TEA.....

The only problem is, is that it was man made! Garbage, dumped...probably where someone changed their oil at one time, or threw out an old oil filter! Who knows what is under there? I wish I could find them and make them DRINK IT!!!!

OK,  John, what's the point? The point is:

This is about a, 2 foot by 4 foot wide area. Everything around it is stone cold dead now! Not even a weed is growing there! That's the point. Now picture the Gulf Coast of Louisiana, and multiply the above by a Thousand if not Hundreds of thosands times!
Now let's compare it to the "Small"

OIL SPILL:   reported by BP "at first" which was oh--only about 1,000 barrels a day--and is now purported to be about 5,000 barrels and growing! Now it threatens the livelihood of thousands of people and an entire areas' economy! It is supposed to hit land in Louisiana tonight!

I too am very concerned about this massive leak and have no ready answers. I do know we have been operating rigs safely, for many years without any major disasters, and am surprised it took this long for something to happen. But if we quit every time we met adversity, or suffered a set back we still wouldn't have wheels.

What is/are the answer(s)?
What are the right questions?
What are your concerns?
What recourse's do we have, and which way do we turn now?
2012, Fact, Fiction, or just being fueled (pun intended) by recent world events?

I don't have the answers or solutions: I only wrote what questions I had on my mind, and documented what I saw first hand, on a minuscule scale in my own little world! After all- this is MY BLOG- where I express myself.

One thing I do know for sure: We will clean up this mess, learn from it, and perservere.

Why: Because we are AMERICAN'S, and that's what we do!!  Arrogant- Yes,  Cocky- Absolutely!

BUT AM I RIGHT?

GOING TO THE DOCTOR

GOING TO THE DOCTOR TODAY.

I tried to put it off, but after the fishing trip my FEETS be swole up! My ring was a little tight  on my hands, and I noticed my shoes felt tight.

Shure enough I have some moderate swelling in both Ankles, and hands, along with some Shortness of Breath. I'm not overly concerned but say a little prayer for me as I figured discretion is the better part of valor.

The problem of being in medicine so long is you know just enough to KILL YOURSELF!! LOL!

I know he's gonna ask me about SALT!

I get to tell him I was in about a MILLION TRILLION GALLONS of in on my fishing trip- and ask him if he thinks that caused the swelling!

HA!

Will post tomorrow, and catch up with everyone.

Love ya'll,

JMc

JUST IN CASE!

and just in case:

One day I had lunch with some friends. Jim, a short, balding golfer type about 80 years old, came along with them---all in all, a pleasant bunch.

When the menus were presented, we ordered salads, sandwiches, and soups, except for Jim who said, "Ice Cream, please. Two scoops, chocolate.

I wasn't sure my ears heard right, and the others were aghast. "Along with heated apple pie," Jim added, completely unabashed.

We tried to act quite nonchalant, as if people did this all the time.. But when our orders were brought out, I didn't enjoy mine.

I couldn't take my eyes off Jim as his pie a-la-mode went down. The other guys couldn't believe it. They ate their lunches silently and grinned.

The next time I went out to eat, I called and invited Jim. I lunched on white meat tuna. He ordered a parfait.
I smiled. He asked if he amused me
I answered, "Yes, you do, but also you confuse me.

How come you order rich desserts, while I feel I must be sensible? He laughed and said "I'm tasting all that is Possible.

I try to eat the food I need, and do the things I should. But life's so short, my friend, I hate missing out on something good.

This year I realized how old I was. (He grinned) I haven't been this old before."
"So, before I die, I've got to try those things that for years I had ignored.
I haven't smelled all the flowers yet. There are too many trout streams I havent fished. There's more fudge sundaes to wolf down and kites to be flown overhead.

There are too many golf courses I havent played. I've not laughed at all the jokes. I've missed a lot of sporting events and potato chips and cokes.

I want to wade again in water and feel ocean spray on my face. I want to sit in a country church once more and thank God for His grace.

I want peanut butter every day spread on my morning toast. I want un-timed long distance calls to the folks I love the most.

I haven't cried at all the movies yet, or walked in the morning rain. I need to feel wind on my face. I want to be in love again.

So, if I choose to have dessert, instead of having dinner, then should I die before night fall, I'd say I died a winner, because I missed out on nothing. I filled my heart's desire. I had that final
chocolate mousse before my life expired.."

And I clean this up every morning!

This weak attempt at documentation for the Po-Po will have to do until I return from, the Historic,
Midnight Train to Georgia, (That's the Night the Lights went out too),

FISHING TRIP!!!!

Before I left I noticed my Left rear tire was getting low on air. (About 2 weeks now-LOL!) I was able to blow it up 3 times with a little air compressor I had, and tempting fate, hoped it would get me to the Tire place before I left.

It did! I'm leaving about 1 ish tomorrow. I always wanted to say  1 ish!

It cost me $281.17 cents to have a nail removed, and an Oil Change!!!!!

I was cursing the Michelin Man for all he was worth--NOTHING!!,
and when I went to the Tire Emporium, they called me to the back. This is never good! I was shown three other tires--YES I knew I had four!, and they were all rotting. I had one brand new tire from a shredded blow-out not 6 months before. I have had 6-7 flat tires in the last year! See why I carry the Inflator?

Works well on Dolls too..... so I'm getting a little tired of the two dirt roads and the nail garden I drive over on a regular basis, and am fit to be tired - tied- sorry! I had to have this one repaired before I left, 20 minutes, no problems and I'll be on my way! And yes, I'm so lazy I'll pay you $29.95 to change the Oil, Filter, Dispose of the Old oil correctly, Fill all the fluids, and help Sheik Abdul SHAKE YoMAMMA put Hector through School!

You know what--it just may have saved my LIFE!

He noticed the one brand new tire, (That had the nail in it),  observant wasn't he? and then looked at the other 3. The tread looked like the were brand new tires. NO WEAR AT ALL!!
However they were 7 years Old with 66,000 miles on them and had literally started to rot! The outside of the tires were literally cracked all the way around, and just about any trauma to the tires would have punctured the outside edge! The were really rotting, almost as if they had sat that whole time. This was a good call on the tire emporium dude's part! He could have easily pulled the nail and sent me on my way. But I have been trading with them for over 20 years!

We drive so little, in just a small 10-15 mile radius around the house- so we put no miles on a car. Work was 4 miles from home for the last 7 years, etc....even Geico sent us a check, we drive so little! But in the past we have had quite a few vehicles, and driven many many miles so they got quire a bit a bidness from us over the years!

So this inconvenience possibly saved my life! If I had gotten out on I-95 and opened it up to 80-85...you get run over if you don't go that fast, the heat may have done them in! Yes, I know I could probably made it down there and back 10 times, but where is the drama in that?????

So,

THANK YOU LITTLE NAIL INCONVENIENCE TIRE STOP OFF $281.17 LIFE SAVING

PERSPECTIVE ALTERING, HOPE GIVING

LIFE SAVING....

EVENT THING!

I'll see ya when I see ya!!!! Probably Monday. Please don't forget me while I'm gone!

WHAT INSPIRES ME; AGAIN IT'S A MATTER OF PERSPECTIVE

Inspiration Today before Ily's Post!

Close-up of Inspiration

Discarded Ribbon in Field...Twisted almost into the Symbol for
INFINITY!

It's all a matter of perspective. Ily from Lil Red Hare, asked the provocative question: "What Inspires You?", after brilliant examples of what Inspired her. Others commented, inspiring me!

This is something that always is on my mind in one way or another! What is going to make me get up off the couch today? Most days recently I haven't felt like it. I just want to lay there in a funk staring mindlessly at a TV Screen. It's very easy that way. No expectations--no disappointments!

I should be dead. I got a do over- after a Triple Bypass in 2004. This should be enough one would think to Inspire me for a Lifetime! To a degree it did. It also led to other circumstances that left me depressed. As time went on- Ecstatic..depressed, ecstatic,-  Up, Down, Up Down...a veritable Yo-Yo effect. Similar to dieting!
IT'S CALLED: LIVING!

My wife kept asking at times, Don't you realize what you have been given? The Gift of a second chance? A Mulligan! Another shot! So, I should have a totally new perspective on life right? Really? OK. But the jumping up and down stage is over! That's why I bought a Wii  !!!  LOL!

I'm very very grateful that we have the technology, (not for the Wii- ((for the By-pass!)), that cheated death and gave me  "X"  more years on Earth. I was also completely at peace with the other alternative too. Death.
Oh, come on..many say--You can't really mean that!

Yes I can. And do. Don't tell me how I feel about that! That's a perspective I have a firm grip on!

However, something happened over the past Month, to Month and a Half that changed my perspective, my outlook! What or Why, exactly--  I honestly don't know? Prayer?- probably! Karma? Luck? Whatever happened, I have a new-found joy in Life again. Blogging, Friends, Going, Doing, Hoping,..... I'm not sure why,  but all of a sudden it's back!
Now, I'm looking forward to each new day and the challenges it brings! I did force myself to break that cycle..... I had tried before and failed, but I gave it another go!

I'm  finding Inspiration in all sorts of places. I'm LOOKING for it! Actively! And when I find it, I'm taking pictures of it, writing it down, and at this point and time Blogging it. That is my artistic outlet. I hope and pray that this may also inspire, spark a smile, jog a memory, anything, in someone who may stumble across this Blog, on their Funk-de-Jour!!

Jim and I were laughing so hard today after only 3 minutes on the phone, just discussing what time I was going to leave Thursday. Crying, we were! Laughing so hard, tears were streaming down our faces like kids at a sleep over! And we haven't even started the trip yet! If this is my last memory on Earth it will be well worth it.
But, I'm also a realist. There will be days when the Inspiration is just not there. To say it is would be a lie. However, I pray I don't dwell there, and if and when that happens; I'll come across a simple, yet profound post from a friend that simply asks, "What inspires you?" I too, hope to inspire someone on a down day, to pick themselves up off the Pity Couch, and propel them into the World of Hope and Inspiration, however brief their journey!

Sometimes that first step is a bitch! Take it- it's worth it!

GRAND CANYON PERSPECTIVE

Three people were viewing the Grand Canyon-- an artist, a pastor and a cowboy. As they stood on the edge of that massive abyss, each one responded with a cry of exclamation:

The Artist said, "Ah, what a beautiful scene to paint!"

The Pastor exclaimed,  "What a wonderful example of the handiwork of God!"

and finally the

Cowboy mused, "Hell of a place to lose a Cow!"

3 valid and honest observations, eh? Just a matter of perspective!

DOC.  Looks exactly like Doc #1 that died the day we saw Sir Paul in Concert!

I DID NOT TEAR UP THIS COUCH, NOR DID I EAT ALL THE CHEETOS!

This is Faith

These guys help you keep life in perspective! When you think you've got it all together--
CALL A CAT!!!!
